Security & Emergency
The Security and Emergency Division of the Federation of Local Authorities plays a vital role in strengthening the preparedness and resilience of Israel’s municipalities. The division maintains close, ongoing cooperation with all key national emergency bodies, including the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA), Home Front Command, Israel Police, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as well as with relevant government ministries—National Security, Interior, Education, and Defense.
The division supports local authorities on a wide range of security and emergency issues, including:
- Day-to-day municipal security coordination
- Emergency preparedness and crisis response
- Protection and safety in educational institutions
- Participation in national drills and simulations
- Organization of professional conferences and knowledge-sharing events
- Representation in Knesset discussions and national emergency forums
- Surveys and assessments of municipal emergency readiness
Through strategic partnerships, proactive planning, and continuous engagement, the division helps ensure that local governments are equipped to protect their communities in both routine and emergency situations.
